Description of the international project ( 2022-1-SI01-KA210-VET-000083366 )

”Bees give us food and health“, Erasmus+.

At the Vocational Beekeeping School, Střední odborné učiliště včelařské – Beekeeping Education Center, o.p.s., we embarked on a joint Erasmus+ KA210-VET project in September—Bees Provide Us with Food and Health.

In October, we are preparing the bees for winter by feeding them with sugar solution and treating them twice for varroa mites. Over the next months, we will explore various bee products, appropriately package and label them. We’ll delve into their significance in our diet, as well as in the treatment and prevention of various diseases.

Through lectures and workshops by experts, we’ll innovate practices to streamline beekeeping and enhance the production of high-quality bee products. These products will be processed into apitherapeutic preparations, applied to both humans and animals, and their effects closely monitored.

We’ll also study the role of bees in each country, their species, and the vital functions they serve. As a collaborative gesture, we’ll exchange queen bees, bee colonies, and most importantly, our experiences in beekeeping. Together, we aim to create an online classroom for beekeepers and apitherapists, offering content in English, Slovenian, and Czech.

In this project, we seek to improve people’s relationship with nature and its values. We emphasize the importance of plant pollinators, with bees being the primary contributors. Through pollinators, we’ll learn about various honey-bearing plants and their significance for both humans and nature. One of our goals is to plant different honey-bearing plants, with the support of the Beekeeping Association of Slovenia and AstraZeneca. Over 100 plants will be planted on Monday, October 10, 2022.
